Arborjet Shortstop 2SC Tree Growth Regulator
Arborjet ShortStop 2SC is a systemic plant growth regulator that slows above ground vegetative growth reducing pruning and enhancing fine root hair growth.
Shortstop 2SC inhibits gibberellin biosynthesis for use on trees. Shortstop is most effective when applied to the soil near the base of the tree either by soil injection or with basal soil drench.
- 1 gallon treats approximately 52 trees (10 inches DBH) at the medium rate.

Benefits of Shortstop Applications
Redistributed Energy: Rather than expending energy on top growth, trees increase root production, reducing need for pruning and improving drought tolerance.
Altered Leaf Physiology: Changes like thicker leaf cuticles, smaller stomata size, and increased leaf hairs help reduce water vaper loss in hot, dry weather and may aid in surviving pest attacks.
Enhanced Root Hair Growth: Strong roots mean strong trees; an enhanced root system optimizes translocation of water and nutrients found in the soil, reducing stress and the impact of construction damage.
Reduced Production of Gibbrellic Acid: Gibberellic acid is responsible for vegetative growth in plants. Reducing its production results in shorter length between internodes of branches and 80-95% less annual branch growth, meaning less frequent pruning and maintenance.
Increased Production of Abscisic Acid: Abscisic acid is an inhibitory plant hormone that reduces transpiration to prevent water loss and reduces enzyme production required for photosynthesis, aiding in drought stress management and top-growth production.
Increased Production of Chlorophyll: Chlorophyll allows plants to absorb energy from sunlight and produces green leaves. Increased chlorophyll production results in greater energy optimization and attractive deep green foliage.
