DMM Ceros Screw Lock Carabiner
The DMM Ceros minimizes the risk of cross-loading. Easy to operate with one hand, and able to locate on the belay loop in a single movement, the Ceros is intuitive to use and simple to rack. Correct orientation is achieved with an internal wiregate that keeps the Ceros captive on a belay loop, and a horn which prevents assisted braking devices moving onto the carabiner’s spine. Full section top bar gives smooth rope control and resists wear.

Lanyard Carabiner
I don't see this used very much, but IMO the DMM Ceros is outstanding for use on the end of your lanyard. The shape really lends itself well for gripping and opening with one hand and the captive bar keeps it oriented correctly (you may want to check the captive bar every now and then because mine fell out one day and I lost it).
Great for Lanyard
I use this DMM Ceros carabiner on my lanyard. The shape works great for that and the captive bar keeps it oriented well. Other than that it is the same high level of quality DMM carabiners are known for.
Useful in the Right Spot
There's a lot going on with the DMM Ceros carabiner, and not all of it is necessary in tree work. It's originally designed for belaying climbers in outdoor recreation applications, keeping it oriented appropriately, and leaving space enough to tie a munter or run more than one bight of rope through it beneath a beltway device. In tree work, I find it most beneficial as the main connection between a base anchor sling and the lowerable mechanical/device for a base anchor system. A very slick, specialized connector with all the class of a DMM product.
