Notch Jet Step Foot Ascender
The industry's first toothless foot ascender, the Notch Jet Step uses dual cams (another industry first) to operate with lower spring tension than competing models. That reduces the amount of drag and ultimately the amount of rope needed below the device to self-tend. Two cams squeezing the rope from both sides massively increases grip strength, which translates directly to improved performance on wet, muddy, or frozen ropes.

great ascender, terrible straps
the actual ascender unit is great. no spikes going into your rope, tends easily with no weight, pop it off hands free when needed to stretch out to a foothold. People complaining about "coming out too easy" likely need form improvement I would guess. I have gone through two of these units in two years because the STRAPS fray and eventually break. maybe the edges are not rounded enough, maybe the straps are too cheap... Hard to replace too when they are straight sewn on.
Don't believe the haters
This is a great foot ascender, super smooth, easy on your rope and unhooks from the rope easily. If you're one of those people who has constant kick out problems than you should probably get a model with a locking cam. For those of us who ropewwalk easily the Notch Jet Step is on point. I never have issues with coming detached until I want to. Fits the foot easily and I just love it.
Great Ascender
The Notch Jet Step Foot Ascender is great. I have good luck with it staying on the rope. It requires almost no rope on the ground to climb with. Its also easy to take off the rope once up there. It is also easy on the rope.
Mediocre
I've not much tree gear that I've been outright disappointed in, but this is on the short list. It IS quite smooth going up the rope, which was, I believe, the intent...but it has a REALLY hard time staying on the rope, and you shouldn't have to concentrate that hard on your form to be able to use one productively. I also have had a hard time getting the strap adjustments to stay put and keep the ascender from creeping up my boot towards my ankle...just not impressed.
My "Go To" foot ascender
I only gave this a 4 star because of the difficulty keeping it on the rope. But I use it most of my climbs because the Notch Jet Step IS easy to get out of when I want to. Holds the rope well and doesn't spike in like the Petzl I have previously used. Highly recommend this foot ascender.
I love how easy it is to put on and take off.
I had other foot ascenders but I did not like that I had to use two hands to put on and take off, the Notch Jet Step solved that issue. I have never had the rope slip out on it and in my opinion it is easier on ropes due to the cams being smooth.
Best foot ascender yet
I wish I had purchased this foot ascender as soon as it hit the market. As i'm ascending it only takes about 3-4 feet of Blue Moon rope to self tend. I've had it kick out only a couple times as I was stepping at an odd angle, but the Notch Jet Step is overall a better foot ascender than my old CMI.
