The asymmetrical aluminum Petzl Am'D Ball Lock carabiner has a D shape particularly suited for connection to diverse equipment such as descenders or positioning lanyards. Petzl's patented Ball Lock mechanism is preferred by some tree climbers for its ease of use.

Safety first
I love this carabiner had a Williams ball lock for ever and just recently bought this style for the end of my climb line I feel the ball lock is a bit safer then the auto locks...but to each their own... Great carabineer would definitely recommend...
Fastest triple action carabiner
I’m a big fan of DMM, but these are by far and away my favorite carabiners. They can be opened so quick and easy, even with gloves. Very nice and light. They are phenomenal durability wise in my experience. My first one was one I salvaged from a desert wall in Utah. Never cleaned it and it always worked like new. Never had one gum up and never had to clean one.
Nice action
This carabiner is great for one handed and secure operation, I used to use snaps on the end of my work positioning lanyards, but I like the feel and operation of this carabiner a lot better. Nice colors too for aborist cool factor.

I have switched completely to these Petzl Am'D Ball Lock carabiners and I love them! They're super easy to open and snap shut every single time. the only down side I could see is if you are using big gloves in the winter. I dont work in the winter so I have not run into this problem.
Easy to open
Have been using Petzl AM'D ball locks more often easier to open when wearing gloves. Don't see these being able to come open by themselves overall great design
My go to
I can't recommended the Petzl Am'D Ball lock carabiners enough. They can't open on their own. Easy to use. In 3 years, I've only had to retire 1.
Great for beginners
I personally prefer the triact-locking carabiners because I have no problem opening them, but I've found these Petzl A'mD ball locking carabiners to be useful for beginners that are discovering their dexterity.
Different
They are different then the rest. So when you reach for something on your saddle you can tell what it is without looking. Quality from Petzl of course.
