Petzl Chicane Auxiliary Brake
The Petzl Chicane is an auxiliary braking device which allows the Petzl Zigzag and Petzl Zigzag Plus mechanical prusiks to be used on a single rope when tree climbing. The Petzl Chicane provides continuous additional friction on descents. The excellent compatibility of the Chicane and mechanical prusik as an assembled unit ensures smooth rope glide through the brake during ascents. The ergonomic handle provides excellent grip and facilitates movement while limb walking. Thanks to the openable side plate, installation is quick and easy.

- Allows ZIGZAG and ZIGZAG PLUS mechanical Prusiks to be used on single ropes:
- Continuous additional braking action, thanks to the added friction of the two friction pins
- Used with an Am'D or OK connector (not included)
- Ergonomic handle facilitates movement while limb walking
- Optimized durability, thanks to the two friction pins, available as spare parts
- Petzl CHICANE allows the user to work in compliance with the ANSI Z133 standard
- The H-shaped cross-section of the connector, together with the positioning ring of the mechanical Prusik, make the CHICANE and mechanical prusik a compatible unit that ensures smooth rope glide through the brake during ascents

If you have a zig zag get this
The Petzl Chicane Auxillary Brake is a must have for srt use with the zig zag. It’s incredibly smooth and easy to install. I like the hard tether as well.
Super smooth and reliable
Credit where credit is due for the rope wrench, but the Petzl chicane is next level. Super smooth operation, the handle is nice, and the push button side plate is easy to disengage with gloves on.
Perfect marriage with the ZigZag...
The Petzl Chicane and Petzl ZigZag are meant for each other. Perfect combination for SRT activity. I highly recommend this combo!

Nice for many reasons!
I use this with my zig zag as well as my hitch climber setup. Solid set up. Midline attachable but with swinging sideplate so no concern for losing a part. Also has a solid handle As a tether. My Petzl Chicane stays on my belt. Very smooth as well!
