Rock Exotica Akimbo²
The Akimbo² is the second iteration of the popular mid-line-attachable climbing device for tree care. Like the original, the Akimbo² allows you to position, ascend and descend in stationary or moving rope systems (SRS or MRS) without additional equipment or detaching from your saddle.
Adjustable friction settings optimize performance on ropes ranging from 11.5 mm to 12.7 mm, all without tools and without an approved ropes list. The Akimbo² features an additional SRS tending option, as well as modifications for improved performance on rope and replaceable components that extend service life. The Akimbo2 is intended for experienced users and not for novice climbers. Read the user manual thoroughly before use.

Great on KM3 Max
It’s my favourite mechanical device, it has a several friction settings for multiple size ropes. It does really well on static line. It’s very compact, simple and easy to take off rope when done with it.
Smooth control once tuned
After adjustment, rope movement feels controlled and predictable in ascent and descent. Definitely not beginner-friendly. Requires understanding of rope systems to get the best performance.
Akimbo fan
I really like the Akimbo2. It takes some time to break in and also to find the best rope to use with, but once you get that dialed in it's "real nice Clark!"
Its good
In short, this is a super fast way to get working on SRT. PROS: Mid-line-attachable, fast on/off, tool-less adjustments, physically compact, doesnt slide down its rope when passing a redirect. CONS: annoying chest-tending connection point, doesn't play nice with larger diameter ropes out of the box (i.e. 11.8mm 24-strand 160lb climber w/o gear), expect to need to adjust friction settings when changing ropes. I am 160lb/no gear- i was using minimum friction settings on an All Gear cherry bomb 11.8 and it gave terrible performance. really jumpy, constantly eating my glove. I switched to Xstatic rope and it started feeling better (still on minimum friction) Then I tried it on a brand new Courant squire 11.5 (32-strand) and NOW WE ARE TALKING this things is a dream at about halfway on both friction settings. so smooth and easy to work on. Im excited to try it on my older Yale kernmaster. GREAT SRT device (just ok for MRS) if you have the money for it. Added the new Arbsession Grommet on it with my DMM perfectO w/ captive bar and it is feeling awesome
Smoothhhh Criminal
What more do you want out of a mechanical? Spring loaded cam doesn’t allow it to drop on line, like the original , sick purple color, easy to use, but… it takes time to set up and depending on rope and weather conditions you have to adjust the friction. New out of the box it was a bit hard to engage to descend but as it’s worn in its great.
Akimbo
I’m a newer climber and I just got my akimbo like the device but having a little bit of a hard time dialing in friction for drt on Drenaline
