These Boots Were Made for Walkin’…..
As I gain experience in production tree climbing, I find more ways to avoid or minimize spur time, SRT foot locking saves a lot of fidget time with ascenders, and my stiff climbing boots with dedicated ascender clip loops live on the truck as designated spur boots. On the rare occasion I do have the luxury of ascender fidget time (cable only job 75’ in a tulip poplar), I don’t quite have the time for another trip to the truck to change my boots, and the affordable Weaver foot loop is essential to prevent blowing up a pair of $150 everyday everything boots. If I really wanted to sell this loop, I’d advise that Investing in this inexpensive foot loop, could re-allocate some climbing boot budget towards a set of knee and/or foot ascender(s). Sizing? My foot is a narrow size 11 in Keen Targhee IV boots, and the yellow thread climbing boot loop is snug. if you have clubbed hobbit feet, you may want to size up to the “chainsaw boot” size.
