Yale Wire Basket Fid
The Yale carrier fid is designed for splicing hollow braid rope like tenex and tREX. This wire basket fid works best with rope 3/8" to 1/2" in diameter, but it can be used for larger sizes of Synthetic Cable as well.
The Yale Wire Basket Fid works off the principle of a Chinese finger trap: with your hand or fingers bunch up the wire basket, insert cordage . The wire basket springs back on the cordage, allowing you to easily complete a splice. When done, simply bunch up the wire, and remove the cordage.

My preference
I don’t like using so much tape, especially when splicing in the tree. Splicing goes a lot quicker with this tool.
Nice for splicing
The Yale Wire Basket Fid is a good tool for splicing, usually makes it easier to splice hollow braid ropes.
