Gibbs Ascender Model #4 for Larger Rope
The Gibbs #4 Ascender works with 5/8" to 3/4" rope (14mm to 19mm) and is intended for litter raising and load hauling, where extra strength is required. It features a spring loaded forged cam and an aluminum shell.
Gibbs Ascenders are designed not to slip. They hold well on iced and muddy ropes. Their simple, durable construction makes them almost fool proof. They are easy to assemble on the rope yet will not come off unexpectedly. They can be rigged in all the standard methods for mechanical prussiks.
Please Note: The Gibbs #4 includes both a Quick Release Pin as well as a Bolt with Nut for a more secure semi-permanent attachment. The Quick Release Pin should not be used for life support applications without a backup.
Details
To assemble with the Quick Release Pin:
- Depress button on pin and pull pin out until cam swings free.
- Place Ascender on rope and align holes in cam and shell.
- Depress button and insert pin.
